This condition is called toxemia and can be very dangerous to her and her baby if she does not follow the doctors request that she remain in bed. Please make sure that she does this. I had this with my older son - now 24. I had this condition and in my case it was getting very serious because I normally have very low blood pressure - but I was bedridden for - well it was going to be 2 months but Jason came 2 weeks early. The good part of all of this - I gained about 60 pounds which was lost in about 1 month because it was basically all baby and all water - you might tell her the good part - that if she gained alot of weight she will probably lose it very quickly. You could actually poke on my legs and the poke would remain imprinted in my leg - it was really gross - had to wear slippers to work instead of shoes before they put me on bed rest. But I was working for a great group of attorneys then -
