Lisa is right. The client entered into a contract with you when they ordered the search.When you completed the search the contract had been fully performed. Payment is due when the search has been completed. Liability is not a term of the contract. All the client is concerned about is that the searcher is properly insured. In this area it is understood that if the search is cancelled before it is completed, the searcher gets part of the fee or in some cases nothing. If the order is cancelled after the search is completed the searcher gets paid in full. I have never had a problem with this
