But, I DON'T trust my government, Dave.  That's precisely why I would never let my SSN, birthdate, or other sensitive information about myself or my family remain on a document that I know will be entered into the public record.

From where I sit, knowing what info about me is out there is necessary to protect myself--I certainly can't rely on the government to do it for me; by your own admission, they've proven as much.

I also subscribe to Equifax, which alerts me to any changes in my credit profile whatsoever.  It's a service that helps me to sleep better at night.
