What you charge depends on the client for whom you are closing. There are some signing services that only pay $50.00 per signing. There are others that will pay $100.00 to $125.00 per signing. Generally title companies pay better than signing services. You can sign up with either directly or you can post your name on a notary board or you can do both. If you are downloading edocs (in most cases you will be) make certain to allow a sufficient charge to your client to reimburse you for your printing cartridge and copying expenses. In some cases your client will want a flat rate that includes both your fee and the printing/copying charge. Others will want a rate stated separately for each. In most cases you will travel to the borrowers residence to complete the signing. Take the cost of gasoline into account when you quote a price to a client. Some of them expect you to travel 25 to 70 miles one way. Also be careful of new clients. There are a number of them out there who are reputed to either slow pay or no pay. Generally you can ask the experience of other signing agents with a particular company before accepting an assignment
