Oh yes, I have no doubt that inexperienced abstractors are a problem. My main concern is that "some" clients with a similar lack of knowledge don't know how little their abstractors know. If these clients were more knowledgeable, they probably wouldn't use the inexperienced abstractors and that would eventually take care of the problem.
And, before I get slammed with e-mails, I realize that there are a lot of good clients out there who really know their stuff. We do work with a lot of great clients, and the relationship is much better for it. They understand what we do - we understand what they do, and we are able to help each other.
Just as there are abstractors that aren't really qualified, there are also clients who suffer from the same problem and the industry is suffering because of it.
