Whats the difference to take the books apart to do a scan or copy them?  Every county is different.  Ive seen counties so full abstractors were setting on the floor reading documents.  The counties allowed abstractors to open the books and had no real problems.  I've worked counties were you couldn't take the books apart and had to turn in a list.  In those counties I've had the wrong copies returned to me.  Id ask for lease book 105 and the'd give me deed book 105 or something.  I think most professional abstractors understand the seriousness of getting the books back together.  Not all, but most.  In those busy CH's im talking about its a choke hold not to.  The clerks know who knows what they are doing and who doesn't. If someone walks in and immediately goes to work they are more than likely competent.  I guess I'm just saying for busy CH's I haven't seen a major problem and that's also based on recorders comments.  Yes, someone is going to put something in backward or whatnot, but that's the exception.  I also guess I personally hate asking to have copies made, I just like doing it myself and not having to wait.  lol
