I've had E and O insurance since I've opened my doors.  I agree with you that it shows we as abstractors have taken that extra step to protect our clients, the borrowers and ourselves.  If you are not insured just one mistake and you can lose your house, your car, everything.  Yes I understand that a lot of abstractors have been searching for years without it, but it only takes once.  Most people also drive their cars for years without an accident, but you still have auto insurance, and most states require it.  Personally, it just makes good business sense.
