[-] Changing or dropping your E & O policy - Donna Grady/NC (6 replies)
12/8/2004 12:15:15 AM (2102 views)

I have a question about E & O policies.  I have had a policy for two years now.  First year was with Kemper through TitlePac.  When I went to renew, I was told that Kemper no longer was insuring abstractors.  I was told by Titlepac that I had to renew my policy without a lapse in time in order to be covered for the first year and if I did not renew my policy then the first year would not be covered.  So I renewed my E&O with Zurich through TitlePac.  My question is:  If you have to continue coverage without any lapse in time in order to be insured for your past year's work... then how do you QUIT?  If I become employed to do title searches and I no longer need the E & O policy, then it sounds as if I have to continue buying a policy for the rest of my life to keep the protection on the two years of work that I have done.  If I don't renew my policy, am I still covered for the work that I have done in the past two years that I paid for coverage?  According to TitlePac, I am not.  Explain to me how the E & O insurance industry works .....
