I have to agree with Shannon on this one. If you have been doing this clients work for a while, and all of a sudden- NOTHING- and then you see another abstractor in the court house doing that clients work... WELL...somethings not right! A lot of us are now competing with those who are willing to drop their prices to a ridiculous amount. The sad part is that many of the clients will go for it because money is their bottom line. Though I wouldn't neccessarily make them wait any length of time before I complete their work(should they send it to you again), I would most definately start seeking out other clients to fill the gap! And if you get so busy that you can no longer do their work, well...that's just the breaks! Is there someone in the office that you could ask straight out if they are sending the work elsewhere? Ask them if their was a problem with your service, because you noticed someone else in the court house doing their work. You have a right to be concerned, and to expect an honest answer. Good Luck!
As far as looking at other peoples work orders, they shouldn't leave it hanging out for everyone to see!
