We all around here have tried to talk to some people that we know are undercutting to ask them to stop - ha - what are friends for right! Anyway, everybody wants it to stop - will it - we will see. I think one of the issues that have arose recently is that the volume of work has been pulled from us so some people got real slow and started cutting prices. Only 2 things can happen 1) the volume comes back because more and more mistakes are found and/or more and more counties pull records off line and stop contracting with imaging companies and/or 2) everyone increases their prices to make up for the lack of orders received on a daily basis - it has too - you either spread your costs over 30 orders a day or 10 - bottom line. Wish the companies thought about that - in the end they will wonder if the supposed benefit out ways the risks, increased employee costs and headaches that come along with the performance of t he actual searches themselves. I feel it is in the weed-out stage - the reduced volume will cause some to secure employment elsewhere and those not really qualified to be an abstractor will be weeded out eventually with their performance record - then it will leave the professionals and new pricing. I do try to look at things positively and this is the only way I can look at it currently to keep me focused and positive towards continued growth in the industry.
