Dear Judy,

First of all, let me apologize for using Lisa's name yesterday in my post when I meant to indicate Amanda.  I'd gotten so involved in the threads that I forgot who had posted the initial question.

In no way am I trying to demean this situation.  I do believe and I do know that this is a serious business, and that this is a very serious issue.  I was merely saying that I would hate for someone to turn on one of the abstractors who behaves most responsibly by conducting hands-on searches by trying to place doubt upon their work.

Lisa, please forgive me for indicating the wrong person.  Judy, please understand that I agree with you that something must be done.  I just think it is a thin line that one has to tread when handling issues such as this.  I agree that "tattling" or "calling someone out" is juvenile terminology to use.  But, I also think that many people who behave unethically aren't afraid to appear juvenile.  Behaving as an adult is doing something the responsible way, such as going to the courthouse, researching the title, following the paper trail.  Online appears to be more juvenile to me because it's the quick, easy, and, often, inaccurate way.

I would never try to lessen the importance abstractors play in this industry.  I hope I have not offended anyone by my threads on this topic, or any other topic discussed in the forum.  As a journalist, it is my role to be objective.  I am trying to objectively say: "Do what you think is best."

Best regards,
Jarrod A. Clabaugh
