THE FACT THAT THIS COMPANY IS CHARGING YOU IS ONE THING...(weird)....
THE FACT THAT THIS COMPANY WANTS YOU TO GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION IS ANOTHER. (Do you really want to give a company your credit card information?).
In the days of identity theft, stolen credit card numbers and general security vulnerabilities, I don't think I would be giving a company like this any of my credit card information.
I suggest you take a hard look at this company before giving them a cc#.
I can't understand why they would need to gather cc#'s. Why do they charge the abstractor a per search finders fees? Why don't they just pay you the $98 per search at the end of the month?
I have never heard of this (at least not in this industry). But I can't imagine that the company is only charging their clients $100 for a full search. This would mean that they will only make money off of the direct charges to abstractors credit cards.
I dont' know who this company is but if I received a request like this, I would sure have a list of questions that I would have to ask (and have answered to my satisfaction) before divulging this information.
I have thought about this since reading the post and I still cannot believe it. Why charge the abstractor (a service charge) directly?
I am a smart man, and I can't figure out why they would set up a system like this....it's surely a different approach but something just doesn't seem right.
I welcome any response from the company in question. I can be reached at my office at 614-875-3193 or via email at robb@grandon.org.
