I have heard of many ways to do this but I use a service called onebox.com
I get an 800# so then I whoever faxes to the number, it shows up in my email in box.  I can also fax to myself from the courthouse then go to my email account and forward the work. 
I have been thinking about getting one of those small scanners like you got Judy.  Does it work well for the size and price?  Is everything readable?  I just ordered a new laptop.  The one I have now doesn't travel well.
