Yes, I am getting so much better at this!! When you first start of course you fall into the industry and you do whatever you do to survive, getting back into it. I see these abstractors who have come back to the field and they are charging like $110 for a full. Give me a break, people. If you produce what is a cheaper product, my assumption is you don't think much of yourself or you're gonna do a crappy job.
As our business has grown (big nod to Will Duncan for business advice and development) I've learned I can quote a reasonable price or upcharge for a RUSH and no one blinks an eye. I provide a quality with litigation and prior examining experience that amounts to an examiner, not a searcher. I enjoy providing quality and I am starting to drop the clients who want quantity and don't even question breaks in chain of title when I point them out. That makes me think that these glaring problems are not being resolved and/or they are not being reviewed by a real title attorney, probably a fake one in a made-believe office or like a 21-year old novice paralegal.
Be PROUD. We are good at what we do. Own it. I wholeheartedly agree - undervaluing will bring all the prices down for everyone.
