Funny you mention that - the City of New York has been doing things like that for the lasty two years, where changes are made to a system, and no one seems to know when they happened or why they happened.
I am curious... if the county in question has their records indexed online - why wouldn't they reindex them in a manner that makes the search of a property easier? Isn't this the purpose of putting things on the Internet? And, wouldn't it make it easier to the clerk doing the recording and indexing?
I ask this, because it seems to be happening everywhere that the online index is actually - in some regards - more complex than the paper ones...
