Actually, the laws we are working on here in Texas anyway would have no effect on the sex offenders. As far as I know the sex offenders are not having their social security numbers or signatures exposed over the Internet. What will be blocked is the display of the images where the sensitive information is buried. The indexes themselves may be unaffected.

These new laws would however, prohibit the display in the index or otherwise of social security numbers, signatures, driver's license numbers, dates of birth, mother's maiden name. I haven't seen one of the sex offender sites in a while but I don't think they are displaying this now, with the possible exeption of the DOB which could be changed to display only the YOB.
