I somewhat agree with you. I think if more abstractors start doing it, it will become more of a standard in this industry. Just like any other business, we need to access our risk and take appropriate action. It's funny when a new client calls me, for the most part they have already been through a hand full of abstractors and are willing to pay my fees which are moderate if not higher than the average. So if they are willing to go that far for quality service and a quality product, why not sign a credit agreement. Last time I went to the bank or to other creditors, I know I had to sign my life away or I simply wouldn't be accepted as a client. It's just an industry standard. We really need to change our attitudes regarding our profession. We are not the bottom feeders, we are part of the industry!
