I search New York City - New York, Kings, Queens, and the Bronx. Neither Cayuga, or Albany counties are part of the area that I am citing. The system is known as ACRIS, for those that wish to look at it you can do a google search.
These online records are now THE records for these counties from 2003 to date, and are reliable from 1966.
And again, I know when to order something that is needed from the county that is either missing, r simply not available through the online record system - which I think is a key element. I will agree that those who are doing searches, and do not know when things need to be acquired from the county office itself are taking a HUGE risk, and putting at risk the company that they are doing work for.
I am in full support of people having to learn how to search a title properly. Beyond that, in particular the means, there is no way for me or anyone else to chastise those that put out a quality product. If it happens to be done entirely online - then more power to the individual, as long as it is right.
