I would call it a good start. Until the states decide to require licensing, all we can do is our best to self-regulate. By creating meaningful standards and promoting the value of the certification to the industry, NALTEA demonstrates that it, and its members, stand for quality.
If you don't think its a worthwhile effort - you certainly do not have to participate. You may think it is a worthless piece of paper, but those who have put a lot of time and effort into creating the standards have at least shown dedication to their profession. I applaud their efforts.
It is fine if you choose to ignore the movement, but please do not belittle it.
