It is my understanding the individuals will be certified, and they must be a regular member. The company would not be certified, but the individual abstractors would be. For my company, I just plan on having our senior examiner certified at this time, and will think about having my other abstractors certified in the future.
There has been discussion about creating an on-line test for the certification, but the details have not yet been worked out. There are several things to consider before that can be done - like the format for the test, whether or not it will timed, how it will be graded, the programming required and the costs of having it developed.
Another option that has been discussed is conducting the test via regular mail - like a correspondence type course.
These things are being discussed and some form of remote testing will most certainly be available, however, I cannot say when it will be available.
