When dealing with Vendor Management companies, yes, the engagement package is usually specific as to requirements.  However, the majority of our clients are small independent title agents and they don't even know what an engagement package is.  I think Robert would probably agree with me on this.  In any event, I do not think that a limited lien search is anything more than a current owner search.  To some it might be less as they might want you to exclude certain items.  I understand some of the comments about not doing less than a current owner search to cover  your butt, however the same logic could be applied to say, well we better do a full search to make sure we didn't miss anything either.  You have to draw the line.  I think 99 out of 100 people in the business would agree that a limited lien search is limited in scope (years or owners) and in what is to be show (ie, mtgs, liens.).
