Hi, Lisa, thanks for responding.
The commute is (especially at the end of the day) only one of the reasons for my thinking about going back out there again. The rest are kinda personal and I don't want to get into them on a public posting.
Mostly I was looking for amunition to help me convince my husband that it would be a good idea! He's convinced that I'll make less money, and I'm kinda thinking that he's right, but I'd like to prove him wrong! I figure right now the commute to the office is probably costing me $3K a year, and a least as an indy that be deductible, whereas now since I'm working in an office and not traveling fo work, it isn't.
I enjoyed my time as an independant examiner, it was a great job for a working mother. I could leave the record room in time to be home after school, and put my Mommy hat back on, and then go back to work after bedtime. Until midnight or later some times, and up at 6:00 to do the same thing all over again. Hmmmm.
But now I am sending the youngest one off to college in the fall (woo woo!) so I'm kind of at a new starting point in my life. I'd love to be making more money, and I'd love the independance again, and was also thinking that we'd have a way to earn money after we "officially" retired.
So I thought I'd get some feedback from my fellow abstracors. I know I am setting myself up to get shot down by those who would view me as potential competition, but tnat doesn't bother me, and I'm still interested in what other people have to say pro and con.
Have a great night - and get yourself some rest!
