Robert, this article got my nerves going too.  I don't want less experienced searches doing the complex work any more than the next person.  How can this technology insure that everything is correct and that what is found is actually suppose to attach to the search.  And Then there is the whole issue of mis-indexed stuff by the clerk's as Lisa mentioned.  It is just crazy.  Counties on line or not, a computer can not generate the accuracy of a trained title abstractor with experience!!
All this will come back and bite somone in the azz one of these days.  All I can say is it won't be me.
