It is interesting that you should mention this. The general lack of experience of newer abstractors is becoming apparent to the land records officers in Connecticut. I had a conversation with one of the Town Clerks last Friday. She indicated that many of the newer abstractors are limiting their title searches to the land offices' internal computer system only, and are by passing the written index entirely. She said that one of these abstractors had recently missed all of the tax lien information in a search because he did not know that the information was kept in a separate index other than the grantor/grantee index, and was not included in the computer index.
