We had a client that was asking for full searches and stated on their order form that it was due in 8 hours or less.  I didn't think they were serious - I thought it must just be their "standard" order form, but surely I figured they must know that their instructions were impossible.  No, they called twice a day for three days until the order was done.  Each time they expressed that this was ridiculous that they didn't have the search back in 8 hours.

The only thing I can figure is they use "those" abstractors that do a chain of title and check for mortgages on the computer.  We see it all the time - they run their chain of title backwards, but never pull the grantor books, leases, miscellaneous, etc.  We have witnessed "them" do 7 full searches and leave early.  I just scratch my head and wonder why they are even in the business.

I am with you, may be time to re-think my career choice.  If this is where the industry is headed, I would rather not have the work.  I am not signing my name to a search like that so I can compete with "them".

Best,
Robert A. Franco
