Kevin,

First, let me say that once again, your desire to nurture industry growth and protect us all from our clients and ourselves is most admirable.  You continue to remain a rock in this ever changing profession we choose to call careers.

From a business standpoint, I have many thoughts and ideas pertaining to your concept.  Ironically though, it sounds as if I would not qualify for participation, being the owner of a title company.  Having said that, however, let the record show that I would be more than happy to assist in the structuring and implementation of any sort of business model.  I stand ready, via this website or in person to assist in any way I can.  Although I am STRONGLY AGAINST TYPICAL UNIONIZED LABOR OR UNIONIZED ORGANIZATIONS OF ANY SORT, I do agree with the concept of strength in numbers and feel that unity, if created, managed and nurtured correctly, stands to benefit many of those who desperately need it.

Off the top of my head, I do have two questions to consider:

1.  Is ones ROI (return on investment) dictated solely on his/her shareholder contributions, or generated revenue, or both?  My thought is that an individual who met the start up requirements may then lose revenue due to a decreased client base (directly or indirectly related to the participation in the LLC), thus, his/her ROI.  In a nutshell, how might this affect ones paycheck, be it a draw, salary or other periodic disbursement of profits?

2.  Exit strategy.  The single most important aspect of a business model is its exit strategy.  I feel that this component, more than any other, including but not limited to the type of Buy/Sell Agreement, division of shares, the state in which the LLC would derive from (thus its tax laws, corporate laws, etc), board of directors, etc., deserves the most attention.  In my studies and practices, identifying a solid exit strategy usually brings to light many of the potential operating hurdles an organization faces.  In other words, by starting at the end, you fill an awful lot of the middle.

Again, I am ready, willing and able to help.  As I have stated before, I think being bullied, held hostage and threatened is no way to operate.  Unity could help, if and only if all parties remain focused on the big picture and less on what it may or may not do to their pockets.  Think of it as a startup company.  It will take time.  But hey, what else do we have to offer at this point?
