Another consideration might be the nature of the counties covered. For example Davick Services covers 46 counties in Texas. These are all rural counties with the largest concentration of population in our home county Lubbock. Lubbock has less than 200,000 people in the county seat. One county we cover is almost totally populated by the ranch hands from the Four Sixes Ranch. The total population is a little over 600. The last time I was there I was met at the courthouse steps by a leathery old cowboy complete with chaps, spurs and hat. His horse was in the trailer out front.

Some of the counties we serve do not even have local title companies. Two do not have gas stations. Sometimes it may be years before our clients need us to travel to these counties, but when they do we make the trip. There are few professional abstractors willing to go to these distant rural counties but Davick Services provides the same level of service to these counties. In some cases the service into these counties is provided in much less than 24 hours. For example, if we receive an order for a county tonight for a county 120 miles distant, we leave at 6:30 in the morning so we are there when the courthouse opens. The report is faxed or emailed back from our mobile offices as soon as it is completed.

The total population of the 46 counties we cover may be less than two couties in a metropolitan area. We have to travel more miles but considering traffic, etc it may take us less time to reach a county 100 miles away than my metro peers spend in downtown traffic. Our mobile offices make the delivery of the report to your office almost instantaneous.
