Scott,
While my suggestion does not exactly address your problem, I'll put my 2 cents out there. I also carry my completed searched with me. I purchased a Lexar Jump Drive 512mb. It is as convenient as a floppy ( my presario laptop doesn't have a floppy drive) and is only 3 inches long. I guess it depends on how large your files are.
