Through my position with Source of Title, I have heard from others in confidence that they have experienced similar problems.  I think that non-competes are becoming more common, however, as Kevin has pointed out it is important that they are properly drafted.

It is unfortunate that it is necessary to take these steps to protect you business and your other employees from this type of behavior.  It is also going to be another unwanted business expense if you are forced to take the necessary action to enforce the agreements in court.
