The problem is Brett - this industry is not made up for people that are new to the industry.  It is for people that have put in years and years of hard work learning real estate and abstracting then going on on their own.  If you plan to solicit to lawfirms I will tell you one thing - you would not have to keep your little secret that you are green to the industry - they will know - they know the questions to ask and will eat you alive with embarrassment if you do not know what you are doing - and they are more likely to sue you for any mistake you make working for them and their clients.  Their malpractice insurance is extremely high.
