the man said vandalism and THEFT - so obviously things were taken.  If someone was malicious about an employer stealing invoices causing abstractors not to be paid could obviously harm your business now couldn't it - wouldn't it make abstractors very angry and not want to work for you?  No matter what your thoughts are regarding who possibly did the theft and vandalism - police cannot arrest anyone until they have proof - i.e., fingerprints match, they were caught with stolen property, someone can ID the person at the scene at the time of the incident.  What a great story if someone made it up - but I guess you have to trust who you work for and know them as honest or dishonest.  My personal clients would not make up a story like that - well got to go - checked in between counties and while faxing - good day to all of you
