I spent some time at Fort Ord and even more at the Presidio of Monterey.  I remember Monterey as being a very beautiful place to live.  Of course, it is surrounded by water.  If I were coming from New Orleans I wouldn't want to see any water that wasn't in a bottle.

I am glad to hear they're putting some of those old military installations to good use.
