Judy,
I was merely stating that the First Amendment protects me and all Americans by permitting us to share our opinions, whether they be based in fact, or in emotion. As a journalist, I am honored by this amendment and a government that supports it. Our government must support it, or else, we wouldn't be hearing complaints about how the government responded to the current tragedy in Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana.
Additionally, I was not saying that anyone who contributes a negative stance on government administrations has less love for this country than I do, which is why I indicated administration in its plural form. As reported by media outlets, this has been a problem for fifty years and it must be noted that both parties have held the White House and control of the House or Senate during these times. But, maybe I'm wrong, and it's only the guy that's in office now who is accountable for 50 years' worth of oversight.
I'm thankful your nephew made it out of New Orleans and just wish, as you do, that everyone could have done so. If I were president, or if you were, the storm would have still hit and accountability would then be ours. Even though the President of the United States is the most powerful role in world politics, Mother Nature is still much more powerful.
I don't intend to direct negative comments to people on this forum. I'm merely voicing that support always outweighs criticism. Right now, I support our county, those suffering, those voicing their concerns and those running it in the face of a calamity we've never endured.
Best Regards,
Jarrod A. Clabaugh
