Our nephew was stranded in New Orleans. Like many who live there he had no transportation, little money and trying to evacuate was impossible. Finally yesterday he managed to make it to Baton Rouge and now we are trying desperately to find a way to get him to family in Texas. He had a bus ticket yesterday but the buses ended up FINALLY going to New Orleans to help evacuate... our nephew is safe and has food and water so he can stick it out where he is. We all should be asking WHY was no effort made to get people out of there before the storm and WHY did it take so many days to start sending in help. There have been warnings for the last 50 years about New Orleans levy's but the politicians and big business preferred to line their pockets with the money. Global warming has been ignored... what do people think are causing these horrific storms now? I am grateful beyond belief that our nephew is safe but I grieve for every last one of those people who did not make through alive and those who are dying daily. This was not due to an act of God or the devil... it was due to the act of man ignoring what goes on everyday.
