Forgive me for being a skeptic, but I seem to remember a prediction of $3.50 to $4.00 per gallon after Katrina hit.  Sure, there was a spike in the price immediately afterward, but there was also a holiday weekend in there.  Soon after that, the prices started to come back down.

Sometimes I think of these news organizations actually want something negative to happen so they'll have something to report.  Like the saying goes, "If it bleeds, it leads".
