Kevin, I totally agree with you. I have taken a few clients to court myself. But with varied results. In every case I was awarded Judgment. Some paid up. But there were a couple that filed bankruptcy and because they owed everyone, & I was far down the line & to this date have received nothing. So not only am I out the money they owed me, but I already paid the abstractors I subcontracted to and also the attorney fees & court fees. I would still go that route if I have to though.
I do not allow anyone to get more then 30-45 days behind. We start hounding them right away. If I don't see results quickly then we stop work. I don't understand "not wanting to risk losing a client". Who needs that kind of client? I don't lower my fees, & I don't do work for deadbeats!!!!
