I believe that E&O insurance is a necessity.  I would not do any work without it.  Anyone can make a mistake - regardless of experience - and not carrying E&O insurance could be VERY costly.

It also shows your professionalism.  It is a commitment that will make your clients feel more secure relying on your work. Not to mention, many of your potential clients may require it.

I notice you do have some experience, so getting the insurance may not be a problem if you have been title searching long enough.  I would contact Nancy Walker at Title Program Administrators (click on their banner ad in the upper right hand column).  I switched my E&O to TPA this year and it was significantly less than we paid last year.  I wouldn't go so far as to say it is cheap - no E&O insurance is - but if anyone can help you, they can.

Best of luck,
Robert A. Franco
