You obviously know Jason somewhat better than I do. If you had received an invoice marked "Return to Sender" from a client you had little or no experience with, and gotten a "disconnected" message when you tried to call the number they gave, I doubt you would have reacted much differently.
"Distasteful" or not, my goal is to be paid for my services. I'm in business to make money, not friends.
But, that's just me.
