One thing to keep in mind, Rachel, is that even though the "Guv" is from Philly (or, as I like to call it, "Fallujah-on-the-Delaware", LOL), he still has to keep the teachers' union happy. He owes a lot to "big labor" for getting him where he is, and he's gonna have to walk a fine line to avoid alienating his base.
We do need a better funding mechanism for the schools, though. The whole concept of having to pay a tax just because you're successful enough to own a home is absolutely ridiculous.
With regard to Kurt's comment about vouchers, I am a staunch supporter of school choice; I'm just not sure that vouchers are the way to go. I'd just as soon let citizens keep their money and spend it on the schools they want their kids to attend, rather than have the politicians redistribute it to whomever they deem worthy.
But, that's just me.
