Scott,
Isn't it amazing to see the ideas that the people that are running our state come up with?!? I, for one, am happy to pay my school tax. Most of what I pay in taxes for the year goes to my school district which is fine with me, as the mother of a 5 & 2 year old. The way the system is right now, I know that my boys will be in one of the best districts in the area. It is one of the main reasons we moved to the area that we did. I grew up in Allegheny County, one of the highest taxed in the state, and they have nothing to show for it. The school districts are mediocre, at best, home prices are scary, and the only they have been concerned with is which years' assessments to use. Mind-blowing.
Atleast now, when I see that school tax paid twice a year, I KNOW that the $ is being used for Cannon-McMillian School District.....maybe not my son's school, but it stays in the district. If this legislation goes through, my hard earned money that should be going to my school will likely be used to salt the roads in the winter. Doesn't quite seem right. I don't want my school tax being used for someone in Harrisburg to take his buddy to lunch.
Amazing to think that we live in the best country in the world and we need to be concerned with where our tax money is actually going because of the money-hungry people playing the politics game.
