I don't have a problem with other opinions, and I see your point. However, I don't feel that NALTEA should become an "exclusive" organization. You are not the only one with your point of view - it was MUCH debated when we were planning the initial conference and writing the Code of Regulations. I just don't see the value in trying to change the way members operate their businesses.
I certainly do NOT agree with business practices of some of the NALTEA members, or some of those listed in our Source of Title directory. But, it is their choice and if it truly is a bad business practice, it will come back to bite them in the end (and I hope it does).
However, even if all of the board members agreed with you and we terminated our members who some have a problem with, it wouldn't change anything. They would still be out there competing against us. I would rather have them as a member helping us change the things we can, that will help us all.
You and I definitely have different points of view about what NALTEA should be doing. The difference is that I have joined and I have a vote in the direction of NALTEA - just one vote. You could have a vote also if you chose to join and you are more than welcome to do so. Even though we disagree, I would love to see you join and cast that vote - we are electing three board positions in January.
So, even though we disagree on this issue, I hope you will continue to provide input on some of the others. There are plenty of other things that we might agree on and we could work together to address them.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
