Good morning Lisa.
In answer to your questions, NALTEA's membership dues were a long drawn out discussion among the interim board that put NALTEA together. We tried to make it as affordable as possible for everyone. They are less than ALTA's by half and less than all the state land title associations that I am aware off. Approximately half the each member's dues pay for the web-site and the monthly newsletter. There is no paid staff, we are all volunteers unlike ALTA and the state associations which have paid staff. The other half we use for supplies, postage, and meetings with officials at Fannie Mae and the REO 5-Star conference, trying to get the information out about NALTEA and the plight of abstractors and short-cut searches and the risks involved with them.
Your second question again takes volunteers which NALTEA is in a short supply of. We have board members pulling double duty as committee chairpersons, but also sometimes they are the committee. Yes NALTEA needs members, but NALTEA also needs those members to volunteer to help out.
