Angela,

Depending on whether you have abstracted or not, please, for your sanity and any pending lawsuits it may cause, please work for a title company or attorney for a few years before you go into this. Also, go to the directory on this website and pull up the county you live in and take a look at how many abstractors you will be in competition with, they are a dime a dozen in Maryalnd. Unless you are experienced for at least a few years, most title companies will not take the risk of using someone that is new to abstracting.
