Quite true Scott,
and some of today's conservatives would concider Barry Goldwater a left wing liberal.  Just read his thoughts on gays in the military and his views on marijuana.  It seems that for whatever reason, the liberals and conservatives have gotten farther from the middle than they were forty years ago.  I don't know if you remember Rockefeller Republicans and Dixicrats, but I kind of miss that time.  It seem the folks running for office anymore are way to the right or left of the mainstream.
