To further clarify, the area I refered to, to the best of my knowledge, does not offer records on-line. We contracted with an independent in order to accommodate local bank customers who had branches in the area. At one time, our company looked into the possibility of placing staff there but declined because of the state of the records. We do not market there and you will not find it on our list of counties covered. That is our experience.
We do cover counties in our state that are out of our immediate "primary coverage" area. We contract with a very reputable independent in those counties, with whom we have worked for many years. They drive back and forth as you do. We began offering service in those counties, again, in order to accommodate our local customers. Many VMS will use us in these counties, for a slightly higher price, because the communication is easy and they are confident that we will see that the job is done correctly. The independent prefers to do the work directly through us because it is simpler than keeping track of so many different customers. And we pay them without a hassle. They don't have to go chasing after slow-payers or no-payers. It works nicely for everyone involved.
That said, we still have to do lots of driving. Now, my typing finger is tired and it's time to take my boy to Cub Scouts. Have a great evening, David, and all who tuned in to this exchange. Sorry, Michaela, to have steered it so far off of its original topic.
