Scott,
I sometimes get carried away. It frustrates me when I see good, honest abstractors being taken in by online access. It saddens me when I see otherwise good businessmen oblivious to the fact online access is a sellout of their own business and their community. It angers me when I see some who by choice, naivety, or short-sighted greed encourage others to follow them.
Thank you for the compliments on the mobile office system. I wanted to share this with fellow abstractors because it cannot be exploited by foreign agents or companies. The range is limited to those who work responsibly within their own communities. I am working with counties here locally to use similar technology that will hold the records within the jurisdiction and still offer convenient remote access to citizens and visiting researchers. At no time will the records be broadcast in bulk across the Internet to those who have no moral or ethical right to the records. In conjunction with this, we are working on new laws to prohibit the bulk transfer outside the jurisdiction. There are similar federal laws working their way through the U.S. Congress.
This isn't a lot different from when we extended our International borders from 50 to 200 miles to protect American fishing grounds. This time, it is the American people who need protection from over exploitation.
