Putting aside the issue of whether or not a certified copy is needed, it seems to me the pricing would be inline for a retail transaction performed by a middle man. The company is evidently marketing on a broad level and will likely have to sub out the actual collection of the documents, maybe even to one of us. My fee for this service would be $20 in my home county ($10 for the research and $10 for the copy service) plus the $5 certification fee and a dollar a page. The total would probably end up being $27. But this is a wholesale price. The markup might seem excessive but it is within range of the markup used by many retail operations.
If a retail customers have a real need for this service then $60 is probably not excessive to them. I do feel a little queasy about the marketing tactic this company is using to create a need where none may legitimately exist. But, this aside, I think the pricing is probably in line.
