I designed a database in ACCESS that does all you described (except advanced accounting - QuickBooks for that). I use it to keep track of an order from input through abstracting and typing and it is searchable by any criteria (legal, seller, lot, block, TAXID, client, etc).
I'd be glad to share the basic program, but you have to have installed ACCESS 2000 or newer.
