I am an Appraiser getting into the Title Abstracting field and as an Appraiser when a client sends appraisal orders marked rush, a Rush Fee is assessed. For an appraisal my turnaround time is 48 hours from the time I inspect the home, and my schedule is usually booked 2 days in advance due to the number of orders I receive and perform each day. If a Client wants to get on my schedule for that day, then they must pay the additional charge. If I place every person that mark there order with Rush to the head of the line and not charge an additional fee, soon every Lender will do the same, then theres no order.  When I tell the client what I charge for a Rush Appraisal, if it is truly a rush, then they pay it. If it is not really a rush, then they say "oh just get it back to us as fast as you can."
My question here is ...Do you not charge your clients for services that are outside of the norm?
If you tell them your turnaround is 2 business days, and they want it back the same day, to me this seems to be out of the norm, for which additional charges will apply.
