Everyone's answer to this post is worrisome to me. There is no way I could do a 60 year search in the amount of time you are estimating, whether it was residential or commercial, easy or hard. Perhaps you are all assuming after the first owner you don't have to check for open liens and mortgages, or perhaps you just assume it is released, or perhaps you just go from deed reference to deed reference not actually following the chain by searching name by name back. I report judgments all the time that were never paid off when the property was sold to the new owner. I've seen it done and time and time again - check the last owner - go deed back and back and that is it. Now I might be able to do that in a couple of hours. I did an update on a cell tower commercial from 2004 - found 6 easements that were never reported by the other abstractor on the property. For cell tower placements that is a big deal!
